If you’re keen to experience some warm weather training and escape the UK weather, then join us at one of our triathlon training camps in Lanzarote. We’ve ran several camps at various locations and have now made our home at Occidental Mar in Costa Teguise. The hotel has an open air, 10 lane, 50m pool and the accommodation is great value.
A typical week will focus on swimming and cycling, to maximise the benefits of the warm weather, with a moderate amount of running to satisfy your training needs. A normal day would start with swim training in the open air 50m pool, then after breakfast, we’d head out onto the roads and explore the island by bike. We cover plenty of miles on the bike, but we also include some time trial events and other interval workouts. You’ll have access to plenty of 121 swim coaching and each evening we have a recap of the days activities and finish with a coach Q&A.
Dates for 2021 camps:
February 4th-11th 2021, Long Distance Triathlon Camp £599 per person, which includes half board, all coaching costs and pool hire costs. You would need to arrange flights and transfers (15 mins from airport). This camp will have a real focus on swim technique and volume, with video analysis throughout the week and coaches poolside for all sessions. There will be 3 groups for the bike and run elements to cater for abilities. Due to the volume of biking, we would request that as a start point you are able to ride 60 miles at 15-16mph (in the UK) as a minimum requirement to complete the week.
You can see the timetable for the week below. On first glance, it appears to be a lot of volume, but the groups are controlled to ensure that 90% of the week is done at a very low aerobic intensity. The timetable is of course flexible and you can choose to miss sessions if you require a rest or easier day. A £200 deposit is needed to secure a place, the remainder is due before January 10th.
